Straight out of POTTERY BARN ..... Rebuilt in 2006 from the studs up to maintain the integrity of the original 1926 bungalow. Painstaking attention to detail - Original Heart of Pine floors, Bead Board & Claw Foot Tub. Everything is NEW - New Kitchen - New Baths - New Drywall - New Windows - New Shakes - Everything New but all done “in period”. Designed to accommodate small to large groups, it has 3 options.
The MAIN house is 4 BEDROOMS plus a 4 BED SLEEPING LOFT and 4.5 BATHS that SLEEPS 15 comfortable. FIRST Floor is 2 BED 1 Bath that SLEEPS 6-7. Rent BOTH for 22 Guests. It was designed to work well with multiple families - 2 or 3 families going together to share the experience and the expense. That is what beach homes were originally made for and that is what The Chautauqua is here to recreate. Memories where families & friends can come together, away from their daily grind, to enjoy each other & the sun & the surf.

Best Beach in the Area

How is the beach? That is what you are coming for, isn’t it? The Chautauqua happens to have the BEST BEACH in the area. They vary widely so I’ll try to point out the differences. 1st- The SAND IS LIKE POWDER not coarse ground up shells like some. 2nd -The OCEAN IS AT YOUR DOORSTEP – No long, raised boardwalk w/a 5 minute walk across the dunes to navigate w/coolers/ chairs/floats/blankets - you get the idea. 3rd- There are NO CARS on the beach. Be careful there are lots of Drive Beaches. Imagine trying to play paddle ball w/cars continually passing by & being on constant baby alert. 4th -The Beach is WIDE, level & private - no high rise condos and no steep narrow beach w/rocks in the surf & 5th - BEST WAVES. The kids will love it. We provide Boogie Boards & for the more daring you can rent surf boards at the end of the street. The locals consider it the BEST SURF beach & have a 24 hr website with LIVE WAVES shot from MY DECK. Call for web address. |

The Chautauqua starts with the Great room - 24 foot long – which acts as the main focal point. The floors are Heart of Pine. They don’t even grow wood like that any more. The stairs and loft are Brazilian Cherry. The windows are cased in specially milled period trim. The Bead board wainscoted is original, carefully removed & refinished from the original walls where it had been covered with Drywall. Even the interior doors, all 8 foot, were patterned after the originals.
It has 3 comfortable Leather Couches around the TV ENTERTAINMENT CENTER with WIRELESS INTERNET - a MUSIC CENTER with PIANO & Guitar – a LARGE DINING table that seats 10 plus 4 bar stools at the counter – a Powder Room – lots of Wall Sconces - and Wonderful OCEAN VIEWS |

There is a NEW state of the art GOURMET Kitchen. Full wood Cherry Mission cabinets w/tumbled marble backsplash & gorgeous sea scape metallic tile accents. The most unusual GRANITE I had ever seen. Looks like sand. STAINLESS FARM SINK & long eating bar - Black Glass Jennaire DOUBLE OVENS with matching Refrigerator and Smooth Cooktop – Stainless Dishwasher – Microwave – Toaster – Crock pot - Full array of cooking tools, pots & pans – Full Place Setting of Dishes plus Plastic set for outside & fun plates for the kids - Beautiful Honed Chisel edged STONE floors throughout the Kitchen, PANTRY and separate LAUNDRY with LINEN CLOSET down the hall.

Main House has 5 Bedrooms and 4.5 Baths - Sleeps 15

There are 4 BEDROOMS that radiate off the Greatroom and cherry stairs up to a 4 BED SLEEPING LOFT with POOL Table, Wet Bar and Full Bath. The 2 OCEAN FRONT MASTERS have sliders direct onto the OCEAN FRONT DECK and STONE baths. The first has a British Colonial style QUEEN canopy bed – antique CLAW FOOT TUB – and separate stone RAIN SHOWER w/Body Spray. The other Master has a Cherry QUEEN Sleigh Bed with matching Armoire & JETTED TUB/Shower. The 3rd Bedroom can function as a 3rd Master with a DAYBED or a children’s room. It has another West Indies style Canopy QUEEN w/white Bead Board walls & a private Stone bath with Tub/Shower. The 4th Bedroom also has Beadboard wainscoat with a QUEEN Bed & a SINGLE rollout Trundle. It uses the Powder Room & showers in the Upstairs Loft. |
The Loft may be your favorite room - Definitely the Kids
 | | Sleeping Berths plus Pool Table | The LOFT is the show place of it all. The view is unsurpassed - COVERED LANAI recessed into the house for sun and wind protection. And I know you will love the SLEEPING BERTHS - 3 SINGLES complete w/individual reading lights, TV/DVDs, and under bed Storage Drawers for all your “stuff” PLUS a DOUBLE size bed in the alcove serves double duty as a bed and extra couch/play area for the kids. It comes with loads of shelves to store all the board games that are provided for your enjoyment. But the loft is more than just a place to sleep! There is a second built-in TV Center with Cable TV/DVD and a comfortable leather couch for lounging. A brand NEW POOL TABLE. A full WET BAR with antique corner sink, frig and extra microwave for late night popcorn. Even a push button drink dispenser the children (or beer drinkers) will love. The bath is a classic. Also rebuilt in 2006, it has a different look. Stone Floor throughout. Maple cabinets with undercounter glass block wall. Stainless appliances. Plasma Wall hung TV. Jetted Tub. Outdoor Stone Showerer. Beachside Covered Patio. It is great for 6-7 guests or as part of a large family get-to-gether for some privacy and space. |
My Goal
I have tried to design The Chautauqua to be the ULTIMATE beach experience. A place where friends & family could come together & enjoy each other. Recharge their batteries.
